Many people have horror stories about how they lost anywhere between $50 and $600 on replacing a cell phone that was dropped into the toilet or the bath tub or any other liquid.

The sad fact is that most cell phone warranties do not cover water damage and unfortunately, cell phone manufacturers have begun to place what some are calling snitch stickers in their phones that change color if they have been exposed to even a drop of water.

While this keeps people trying to get a new free phone from saying that their old phone was not water damaged when it actually was, it is unfortunate for the consumer because these stickers have been known to change color in even just high humidity.

So, water damage to phones is a serious problem, but what do you do if your phone does become submersed?

To own a cell or mobile phone used to be a dream of most people not long ago. But as technology evolved and with the introduction of new players in the market, they became available with an affordable price range.

These days, cell phones can be found from different manufacturers and even the cheapest of them boast features such as FM radio, camera and MMS capabilities. Amid the wide-range of models available to the customers in the market, it is often difficult to make a perfect choice.

Although design and looks of mobile phones are factors that may influence one to make a purchase, the following are some important considerations that should be taken into account while buying a new device.

Contrary to what most people think, it is the calling plan that is more important than the cell phone itself. You may get a host of attractive features with the device but unless its calling plan is suitable for you, it is not worth buying it.

Let me ask you a quick question. How many people do you know that DON’T own a cell phone? If you’re like me then that answer would probably have been a big fat zero. But why has the cell phone industry become so incredibly dominant in recent history?

A Customer’s Need?

How many people do you know, have a cell phone but could definitely do without one? I know several, yet all of them are so sure they need a cell phone that they’re willing to bet their lives on it! When did this small consumer product start to become as much of us as our own clothes?

Well when you think about it, the two are fairly similar. If you ask someone why they would prefer to wear a designer label shirt as opposed to one that is not, nine times out of ten they will reply with, “because that’s what everybody else is wearing”. It’s the same with our cell phones, we choose to have one because all of our friends have them and in order to keep up the trend, they themselves must acquire one.

Millions of singles have begun searching for a date using their cell phone thanks to new location-based mobile dating services that lets users connect on-the-spot with people they pick out. These are like instant versions of Internet dating, but with even more features. They have additional capabilities that online dating services can’t offer, like enabling you to search for a date based on your location and allow you to update that location as you move around.

People who use the service like the immediacy of location-based mobile dating. If there is ever a form of technology growing so incredibly fast that people are finding it hard to keep up with, it has to be the cell phone industry! Everyday new phones are entering the market with new computerized accessories that only a few years were not even dreamt about.

Cell Phone History

Do you remember a time when nobody carried a cell phone? When we were forced to wait in line for a payphone? Then the first analog mobile phones were introduced into the world and everyone marveled at their ability to allow people to communicate on the run.

It wasn’t long after that when every phone was switched to digital technology and you had to throw out your analog phone for a more high tech digital one. You could have just said – “no I don’t need to buy a new one” but inevitably you had become so attached to your phone, that you felt like it would be taking a piece of you away, so you bought a new one to replace your one now in the rubbish bin.

Now let’s skip ahead a few years and from the basic digital black and white screened cell phones, color technology was invented which opened up a lot of other avenues. Games became more graphically advanced and there was one other thing that made a huge impact on the cell phone industry – the inbuilt digital camera!

With the ability to take and store digital photos on your phone, we started to open up our minds, imagining the possibilities. Would cell phones become our new personal computer? We’re not there yet but we sure are getting close to it. Now it has only been 10 short years since the first digital cell phone was introduced into the world and look how far we have already come!

Latest Cell Phone Technology – The iPhone

The iPhone is has just been released and is taking the world by storm. With it’s sleek look and huge range of features, it was sure to make a huge impact in the cell phone world. Created by Apple, it was designed to target those looking for a phone with the potential to store a large amount of songs inside.

How would you like to cut your cell phone bill by 75% or more? Don’t think its possible? It might be, but you have to be creative.

If you don’t use your phone all that much, you’re probably paying way more than you need to. If you’ve looked around at rate plans from most of the providers, you know it’s difficult to find a rate plan for less than $39.99 a month. By the time you pay all the fees and taxes, you’re paying more than $500 a year for your cell phone. That’s outrageous!

But I recently found out about a great way to cut your bill. Someone told me, “Get T-Mobile To Go prepaid service. If you’re willing to pay for a block of 1,000 minutes ($100.00), it comes out to 10 cents/minute and the block of minutes is good for a full year. (The balance can even roll over if you buy another block of 1000 minutes before the 12 months expire.) That’s the equivalent to a cell phone plan for $8.33/month, and it has nationwide calling!”
