The Beyond E-Tech Duet D996 is, by far, the best cell phone I have ever owned. If you are finally sick of phones that are hard to use as phones, then the D996 is a refreshing cool breeze. Dual SIM cards in an unlocked package give you the ability to have 2 lines (from two carriers) in one instrument. Tri-band function for those traveling abroad is great. So many features yet without the need for a touch screen. Broadcast TV (low power), FM radio without headsets, comes with 1 GB TF card expandable to ??? via micro SD card. Best handsfree speaker phone I have ever heard. Flip phone case in an attractive style. The D996 works excellently with both T-Mobile and AT&T SIM cards simultaneously!! I was surprised at the long talk time from the Li-ion battery, well over four hours even when I used speaker phone alot. Excellet Bluetooth management. Even has an E-book reader in it that reads .txt documents. Oh, not to forget the 2.0 MP camera that is very easy to use. Several soft keys that make navigating the menus extremely easy. User interface is very user friendly and intuitive. You really don't need the included manual to set it up right out of the box. Came with 2 fully charged Li-ion batteries, USB data and charging cable, headset (earbuds with microphone) and 100-240 VAC charger. All for around $100 (Amazon and ebay). Has a 1 year warranty. MP3 and MP4 players, voice recorders...all in a reasonably sized package.

The Duet D996 offers several multimedia features, including a 2MP digital camera, MP3 and MP4 players, and even a tv tuner. There are serious design flaws with each of these features. The tv tuner only receives analog signals, so this feature is now completely worthless. The 18" telescoping tv antenna does serve to take up a lot of space in the phone and contributes to the Duet's massive brick-like appearance. The MP3 player will not recognize songs if they are in subfolders, so forget about arranging songs by artist or album. You can't use normal headphones or an auxiliary jack since the Duet lacks a 35mm audio input. Instead it comes with cheap USB headphones that are probably irreplaceable. The camera is positioned in such a way that any right-handed person will inevitably cover the lense when snapping a pic. The owners manual is written in such poor English that it is literally useless. I could go on, but you get the idea. Don't waste your money.
