Nokia N76 Black

The newest addition to the company’s N-series phones, the N76 boasts a beautiful and slim design (available in sleek black or hot red) yet manages to pack in a boatload of features. Nokia states that it did not want to compromise on features just to shave thickness off the device. Hence, there’s a 2-megapixel camera, a built-in music player (supports Windows DRM, WAV, MP3, MIDI, M4A, AAC, eAAC+ and WMA files), VGA video recording, FM radio, and a 3.5mm headset jack so you can finally plug in a pair of decent-sounding headphones.

There’s 26MB of internal memory boosted by a microSD expansion slot that can accept up to 2GB card. In addition, to the multimedia functions, the N76 is a Symbian smart phone running S60 3rd Edition software, a solid foundation to build applications. The N76 runs the S60 v3 UI on top of the Symbian OS, and so includes all the smartphone features that users have come to expect from the company’s Nseries. You can view your Office and PDF documents, manage your e-mail (SMTP, IMAP4, and POP3), and browse the Web.

Other goodies include Bluetooth 2.0, a 16 million color capable 2.4″ QVGA resolution internal screen that can also be used in a landscape orientation, and a 262,000-color external display - the richest colors we’ve seen on recent phones and both the internal and external display handle video-recording clearly, with no blur or pixel noise.

The 2 Megapixal camera that can be used with the external screen, providing the feel of handling a compact digicam. Once youve taken some photos, it is possible to upload them to Flicker. If you snap a lot pictures, the phone can be expanded (via Micro-SD) to 2GB of memory.

The keypad and controls, which are very reminiscent of the Motorola RAZR, are spacious and have a solid construction. In addition, there are dedicated controls for the music player and the camera on the outside of the phone, so you don’t have to fish through various menus to activate the functions.

The Nokia N76 is remarkably thin - for a Nokia phone. The phone is mirror-like in its shine. All in all, it’s just a well thought-out product in terms of design. The user interface is fast and feature-complete from Music replay to Decent web-browsing. This functional clamshell smart phone is hard to come by!
