Nokia N93i

Nokia has debuted its update to the N93, the suitably titled N93i. While the Nokia N93 won its fair share of accolades, the new N93i S60-based smartphone yields updates in key areas that were issues with many users.

The Nokia N93i is a compact and stylish digital camcorder and multimedia computer in one. Boasting a host of advanced features – from DVD-like quality video capture to direct video uploads – the Nokia N93i enables you to record great quality video wherever and whenever you feel inspired.

The phones shares PDF, PowerPoint, Excel and Word files on compatible projectors and TV; Nokia Web Browser with Mini Map; email with attachment support; image and video uploading to compatible online albums and blogs; on-device video and photo editor; PictBridge, wireless LAN and Bluetooth printing; 802.11b/g wireless LAN and UPnP (Universal Plug and Play); Bluetooth v2.0, WiFi, Infrared, and UMTS 3G data are all present, and 50MB of on board memory with miniSD expansion is available; Series 60 3rd Edition OS.

The 2.4-inch main display of up to 16 million colors has a 160 degree viewing angle. An easy-to-use joystick provides smooth video control and there are dedicated camera keys to capture images. Switch shooting mode and operate the flash quickly and easily.

Integrated into the Nokia N93i is a new personal video and photo blogging service called Vox with privacy features that let users share stories and thoughts instantly with their friends, family, neighborhood or the entire world, whilst controlling access permissions to the content for personal items. It carries a new more compact twisting form factor with 4 modes including Imaging Mode for capture, View Mode for reliving memories, Fold Open Mode for talking, and Fold Closed Mode for carrying.

There is an integrated 3.2 – megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, capable of recording video up to 640×480 pixel resolution at 30fps, 3x optical zoom. The N93i carries a Digital music player with one-click CD ripping, converting and transferring music to the device using Nokia Music Manager. Nokia has added a mirror finish effect to the external cover, and included a metallic keypad similar to that seen on the popular Motorola RAZR and KRZR range, but the keys retain their spacing and tactile feedback.

Possibly the most important change with the design of the N93i is the size and weight difference from its older brother – the N93i sheds size in every direction, including 10mm (0.39″) from the length of the device. The Nokia N93i is also lighter than the N93, weighting in at 163g (5.7oz), down from the N93’s 180g (6.34oz). The Nokia N93i follows on from the success of the Nokia N93.
